My Top 5 Health & Fitness Apps

So with it being January, I wanted to share with all of you guys some fitness apps that I use to help me with my own training. 

They help me stay accountable, stay focused on my goals & ultimately achieve a level of balance & consistency with my nutrition, training & mindset. 

1. Bodyspace

Description

Basically, you can come on here and find a workout to suit any of your needs from fat loss to muscle gain. I would say this app is ideal for people only starting in their fitness journey as with every workout there are demo videos alongside every exercise on whatever training plan you choose. This app is also great for intermediate
to advanced levels of gym goer as you can find some savage workouts from some of the top bodybuilders, physique coaches & fitness personalities that give you a serious challenge. 

 2. Fitradio

Description

“Fit Radio Workout Music: The only fitness app that provides you with non-stop, high energy playlists of all genres designed to motivate your workout. Dubbed the “Pandora for gym rats” by Mashable with features in SELF Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Forbes, Women’s Running, Health, P90x and more.”

This app was actually introduced to me by a good friend of mine. A CrossFit competitor & IFBB pro figure competitor Leah Dolan. 
I used to use Spotify all the time but with this app, it just takes the effort out of having to drum up your own playlist of which you’ve got the same songs pretty much every day.


Whereas with Fitradio you can have any amount of playlist mixes. Some of the features of the app are:
• Choose music by genre, workout-type, or BPM
• Playlists created by professional DJs
• Interval Timer
• Distance Tracking
• Pace Detection & Run Pace Matching
• BPM Control – set your desired BPM

So it’s genuinely one of my go to apps when I’m training!! 

3.Myfitnesspal

Description

There is no better diet app – period.”

This is an app I use with all of my personal training & online clients. I genuinely believe this app is a godsend to people wanting to learn more about the food they put in their body. Rather than giving you a set & rigid meal plan that feels like you’re restricted from all that you love,


Myfitnesspal gives you a set of calorie and macronutrient(protein, carbs, fats) targets to hit each day in line with your goals. 

This app with gives you next level knowledge on what’s in your food along with a slick blog to look for some cool food & recipe ideas along the way. 

4.Headspace

Description

“Meditation made simple. Guided meditations suitable for all levels from Headspace. Meditation can help improve your focus, exercise mindful awareness, relieve anxiety and reduce stress.”

Now don’t jump the gun and miss judge this app. I always say to my clients “You can have the body of your dreams but if you still feel shit inside what’s it worth?”. This app has helped me in times where I felt nobody else could. I feel taking 10 minutes every day to check in with yourself is one of the best things you could do. 

It’ll give you 10 minutes just to think about nothing else but how you’re feeling & set you up for a great day with the guided meditation being incredibly uplifting & positive. 



Trust me when I say meditation is something that I 100% believed was a load of BS once upon a time but when I actually gave it a shot I was shocked at how good it could make you feel & how much of a positive impact it could have on your life. 

5.Nike Training Club
 

Description

When you’ve completed a workout, share your progress with friends and the Nike+ community.”

Now, this is an app I’ve only recently started using because I have a goal this year to completely turn around my body in terms of my mobility. 
I’d say my current mobility out of 10 is about a solid 4.5/10. Which isn’t great by any standards. 

With this app, you have guided mobility and stretching workouts along with actual bad ass fat loss, strength and conditioning ones too.  This isn’t just an app for flexibility. This is a similar app to the BodySpace app but it’s a lot more modern and slick looking. It also guides you through the workout with a voiceover of what you should be doing, what you should be feeling etc.
 

This app is great as the thought & effort is taken away from you so you don’t have to come up with a stretch routine or mobility routine. So if you’re someone like me who doesn’t make time to stretch or do mobility work this app is ideal.
